KIA is a South Korean automaker. But to keep their company intact in Pakistan, KIA is continuing as a partner with Lucky Cement group. KIA Lucky Motors signed an agreement with the Ministry of Industries and Production to start the production of light commercial and passenger vehicles in Pakistan.
Although imported KIA vehicles are available in the market since 2018 but now KIA Lucky Motors are to commence the local production of two of its models from August this year. The manufacturing facilitates of the firm are complete and it will start manufacturing the units by August 2019 starting with 2.0 liter Sportage SUV (2000 cc petrol) and 1.2 liter Picanto hatchback (1200 cc petrol).
KIA Lucky Motors are accepting the bookings for the KIA Sportage from June 2019 and will be delivering the SUV in August 2019. The bookings for KIA Picanto will start in August 2019 and will start delivering in October 2019.
According to the CEO of KIA Lucky Motors, the company has a production capacity of 50,000 units per annum. The planned investment in this project is $ 190 million. KIA Lucky Motors will be making use of their production capacity to manufacture their vehicles depending on the market demand.
